This article deals with the relationships among motivations for playing online games, flow and online game addiction on the basis of questionnaires. It mainly comprises two parts and the process of drawing up the questionnaire of the college students'motivations for playing online games. The final study aimed to explore the relationships among motivations for playing online games, flow and online game addiction.The questionnaire of the college students' motivations for playing online games on the basis of self-determination theory and some relevant existing research and then decided the initial questionnaire, which includes 16 items. After the experiment with the modified initial questionnaire form on the college students'motivations for playing online games, this includes 12 items from three dimensions, namely competence, autonomy and relatedness. The internal consistency coefficients of both the overall questionnaires and the individual-item questionnaires are over 0.75.The retested reliability of the overall questionnaires is 0.876.And the structure validity and content validity of the questionnaires are also high.With the formal questionnaire, which include three individual-item questionnaires, namely the college motivations students' for online games, the scale of flow experience and online game addiction, this research investigated 348 undergraduates from Nanjing. It systematically discusses the relationships among motivations for playing online games, flow and online game addiction by means of correlation analysis, hierarchy regression analysis and SEM(structural equation model).The above researches show that:(1) Online game addiction was significantly and positively related to flow experience.(2) Motivations for playing online games were significantly and positively related to online game addiction.(3) Motivations for playing online games were significantly and positively related to flow experience.(4) Flow experience played a partial mediating role in motivations for playing online games on online game addiction.
