Analyze The Three Chinese Translations Of Norwegian Forest From The Perspective Of Adaptation Theory

In light of Adaptation Theory, three different versions of Haruki Murakami's best-selling novel Norwegian Wood in China's mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong were compared to discuss the fundamental reason for the versions with diverse styles of one novel in this paper. Details are as follows:The first chapter is preface, including backgrounds of research and previous studies.The second chapter is theoretical introduction, including the expound of Adaptation Theory and applications of Adaptation Theory in Translation.The third chapter is the core part which introduce the influence of language cultures and social cultures on three versions of Norwegian Wood. The first part of this chapter was analyzed in details from levels of words and sentences. The second part of this chapter was was analyzed in details from levels of words and descriptions.On one hand, the reasons caused by language culture were illustrated by discussing translation of noun and the translation of modal particle. On the other hand, the impacts generated from the social culture were analyzed in terms of translation of Western culture-related foreign language, translation of people 'name and translation of other words.The fourth chapter serves as the conclusion of the dissertation. It summarizes the achievements of the present study that the formation of three different versions about one foreign literary is the result of translators' adaptation of three different culture.
