Shop signs are hard to find nowadays, but they used to be beautiful street scenery in China, these strange graphic symbols carry loads of history in them. In fact, shop signs have a long history which could dated back to the primitive society. They were icons of each specific business to attract customers; they played a crucial role in the development competition of business back in the days. The colorful style and decorative features of the shop signs showed the wisdom and spectacular artisanship of the ancient business men; it also penetrated the connotation of Chinese folk culture. This paper targets old Beijing shop signs which has more relevant literatures. Analyze the traditional shop signs with theories of design aesthetics, advertising and folklore etc. Hoping this would help inspire the contemporary store advertisement.This paper is divided into four parts:The first chapter is divided into four sections, mainly introduce and combing the concept, historical development, research history, current situation and the different types of shop signs. The second chapter is divided into two, mainly using the way of design aesthetics and folklore method to analyze the styles and decoration of the old Beijing shop signs. In order to summed up the design pattern of the formal beauty of shop signs. The third chapter is divided into two sections, gives an account of the design-related element of the old Beijing shop signs. The fourth chapter is divided into two sections, to explore the enlightenment would bring to store design by Chiness traditional shop signs, and how store design could better integrate into the environment.L shops under the guise of enlightenment in terms of store design, store design and how to better integrate into the environment.ld.
