The Light Of Friedrich

Caspar David Friedrich(1840-1774)is a romantic landscape painter of German in nineteenth Century,which is active in the late nineteenth Century and early eighteenth Century.He poured his subjective feelings into the landscape and created a pure and frank"landscape of the soul".This thesis will start to analysis the techniques of expression in Friedrich’s painting from the light and gradually to all aspects:the skill of how to use light;how to endue the nature of the ordinary with a sense of the sacred by refers secular matters to religious ceremony;Friedrich paid attention to the composition of vertical and horizontal and deliberately created an almost mechanical composition by simplify and symmetrized to make the figure of the painting with a quasi religious contemplation;Gothic architecture in Friedrich’s painting is a symbol of pure state of mind;Friedrich was stressed that the forces of nature in the painting on the relationship between characters and scenes,and created an "doomsday scenario" as the result of the man who against nature and so on.At the end of this thesis will explain how Friedrich impacted on the painting of the 20th Century European modernist painting including of Symbolism and Surrealism.
