China’s auto industry has experienced 60 stages of 2 years of development,especially after the rapid development in 1997,with an annual output of 3 million cars.And China’s truck industry in 2000,and have large foreign enterprises to carry out a joint venture;after 2005,China’s import and export of the rapid development of heavy truck;China’s truck user groups greatly enhance the awareness of rights.These factors exacerbate the truck market competition,truck product quality requirements are increasingly high.The truck driving axle claims have been in OEM claims before 5,accounting for 42% axle gear fault fault,reduce the truck driving axle gear fault is the vehicle factory is committed to research.In this paper,through the development and application of spiral bevel gear research at home and abroad,compares the characteristics of equal height spiral bevel gear and contraction of spiral bevel gear,equal height spiral bevel gear and contraction of spiral bevel gear made of strength calculation and simulation design,carried out a feasibility study of high spiral bevel gear instead of shrinkage tooth spiral the use of bevel gear.This article makes an statistics on the fault rate of the heavy duty drive axle and the kind of spiral bevel gears on which the axles used this years.According to the results of different axle companies,we find that the fault rate of the companies which used the parallel gears is about 70% lower than the others.Now the fatigue life of parallel gears of bench test is about 420 to 510 thousand cycles,which is much higher than 140 to 250 thousand cycles of tooth tapered gears.In this reason,this paper do much research on drive axle gears to find out the differences between parallel gears and tooth tapered gears,in the field of theoretical,processing method,simulation,bench test and market validation,etc,according which we put forward a proposal of using parallel gears for the drive axle instead of tooth tapered gears,to reduce the market fault rate,improve the competitiveness.
