In recent years, with the rapid development of economy and opening up, the rail transport pressure is growing and the capacity of railway transport can not keep up with the rapid development of China's economy and the rail freight market share increases sharply, which makes the development of heavy haul trains imminent. Improving the transport capacity and speed of heavy haul trains can ease the pressure of railway transport. But there are a lot of problems about heavy haul trains such as braking and alleviating. Only by solving these problems can the braking performance of the train be improved. Under this background, the braking system of electronically controlled pneumatic(ECP) arises.Based on the development status of ECP braking system of heavy haul train in China, this paper firstly chose the plan of ECP braking system of heavy haul train. Then the hardware and software of the ECP braking system were designed, and the design of each functional unit of hardware structure and software design process were introduced.In the end, according to the characteristics and requirements of ECP system, the fuzzy fuzzy PID controller was studied and designed. And the fuzzy PID controller and ECP braking system were modeled and simulated by using MATLAB software. By setting the appropriate parameters, the braking and mitigation performance of ECP system under different braking instructions were studied.The simulation results showed that ECP braking system based on STM32 can improve the braking performance of the ECP braking system. The ECP braking system can be used to control the whole train braking, relief, stage braking and stage relief. And according to the actual operation of the train, the driver can change the braking force at any time, which fully proves the superiority of the ECP braking system. Consequently,this study has good market value and high application prospect.
