Reactive dye/copolymer microspheres are widely used in many areas,such as biomedical,ink printing,textile printing and dyeing due to their excellent chromatic propertie,specific surface area and scattering effect to incident light.In this study,cationic copolymer microspheres(P(St-BA-VBT)were synthesized by emulsion-free polymerization,and they were dyed with different structures of monochlorotriazine reactive dyes to obtain the reactive dye/copolymer microspheres.The colored copolymer microspheres were characterized by transmission electron microscopy,differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction analysis.The influence of stirring speed,dye concentration and electrolyte on size distribution,Zeta potential and the dye adsorption of reactive dye/copolymer microspheres were studied.In addition,reactive dye/copolymer microspheres were applied to dye and print cotton knit fabric in order to explore their dyeing and printing properties.The results showed that the copolymer microspheres appeared smooth and spherical before and after dyeing.After dyeing,the average particle size of the copolymer microspheres increased by 17?22 nm,and the glass transition temperature had no change,which was in the range of 95.0?95.7 ?.Compared to the uncolored microspheres,the crystallinity of P(St-BA-VBT)microspheres became more regular and larger.With the dye concentration increasing,the average size of the copolymer microspheres firstly increased and then decreased,and the Zeta potential gradually decreased,and finally became negative.The average size of copolymer microspheres decreased with increasing the stirring speed,dye concentrations and selecting the appropriate electrolyte,but the dye content of the colored microspheres increased.It was found that the proper prepared conditions to obtain high dye contents of the microspheres are 75%dye dosage with 2.9 mM/L NaCl solution at 500 rpm.The color of cationized cotton knit fabric dyed with reactive dyes/copolymer microspheres was deeper than the sample dyed at the same concentration of dyes,which also had the larger saturation.At the same time,the residual colored microspheres still had excellent chromatic properties,which is greatly significant to innovate the basic theory of fiber dyeing,improve the utilization of reactive dyes and reduce the discharge of colored wastewater.In the printing process,increasing the colored microspheres concentration resulted the deeper color prints.Colorimetric values of the fabric hardly changed when there was no binder in paste.And the prints had favorable rubbing and washing color fastness.
