| Papernaking is famous in the world for one of the four great inventions in our country,promotes the progress of human civilization to a great extent,and makes the heavy writing materials become light,soft and easy to carry.Paper is one of the important tool of recording and spreading the historical and cultural information.Paper relics,such as ancient calligraphy and painting,ancient rare books,archives,and so on,which has a huge number,substantial content,and precious value,is the witness of the civilization history of the Chinese nation for thousands of years,furthermore,is the important roots of national spirit,is the original materials to study the temporal history,politics,science and technology,culture,art,and is of very important value to the progress of human society and the development of science and technology.However,as time goes on,these valuable paper relics,due to the influence of material itself and the preservation environment,inevitably suffer damage,and appear yellow,brittle,acidified,crumbly,causing that their saving life is greatly reduced,ornamental and research value also sell at a great discount.Facing the damaged cultural relics,we must repair and renovate them,in the process of repair,the paper relics are inevitably suffer water.However,the seriously crumble paper will be damaged when contacting water,which causes great difficulties to the paper restoration.The precious paper cultural relics cannot be reproduced,also cannot be replaced by any copy,once be damaged,it will be difcult to restore to their original state,which will cause irreparable damage.The purpose of this paper is to solve the problem that the acidified crumble paper will be damaged when contacting water.Through screening,the LC reagent developed by this research group is adopted to pre-reinforce the damaged cultural relics before repairing,which can avoid the damage when paper relics contacting water,so that further repair work can carry out,and the pre-reinforcement has played an important role for the conservation and repairing of paper relics.The main contents of this paper include the following five aspects:1.Investigation and Analysis on the diseases of the Archives of Nanyang University in the Period of the Republic of China in the Archives of Xi'an Jiaotong University.This batch of archives has serious acidification and color change,paper fiber has fractured,damaged files light absorption become enhanced,and fiber crystallinity get decreased.2.Use Shengxuan and Shuxuan which is commonly used in paper relics to make the acidified and decayed simulation samples,adopt LC reagent protecting the simulation samples,test pH,whiteness,anti-tension,Tensile strength,tear resistance,wet tensile strength,wet tear resistance,and thermal stability,as well as crystallinity of the unprotected and protected Shengxuan and Shuxuan,the results fully illustrate the LC reagent can effectively increase the wet strength and improve the physical properties of paper,while the paper is deacidified,which comply with the principle of preserving the original form in restoration work.3.Use SEM,video optical contact angle measuring instrument,XPS,XRD,multi-station specific surface area and pore analyzer to analyze the surface morphology,infiltration,element composition,phase,porosity of the unprotected and protected Shengxuan and Shuxuan,and explain the mechanism of using LC reagent to increase the wet strength of paper.4.Three kinds of artificial aging experiments were carried out by hot and humid aging,UV aging and dry heat aging.By testing the retention rate of the physical properties of the unprotected and protected Shengxuan and Shuxan,the durability of the LC reagent is evaluated.The results show that LC reagent can increase the durability of paper.5.The application of LC Reagent in rehabilitation project of Archives of Nanyang University in the Archives of Xi'an Jiaotong University during the Period of the Republic of China and the Qianlong Buddhism.Form a complete repair process for the acidified and crumbly paper relics. |
