The laser cladding technique, with the advantages of low dilution rate, small heat affected zone and high efficiency,will have great market value and application prospect in repairing the disabled mould. The laser cladding will also improve the heat resistance, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the mould to extend the service life of the mould and increase economic benefits.Based on laser melted deposition (LMD) technique, this paper delves deeply into the research of the basic theory, process parameters, macroscopic and microscopic structure properties of laser cladding by theoretical analysis and experiments. The details are listed as below:(1)To study the influence of process parameters (Power 1000W-2000W, scanning speed 2mm/s-8mm/s) on the macroscopic and microscopic properties of the cladding layer, the experiment was conducted by using the control variable method, under the condition of constant laser power density or scanning speed, while the ductile iron was selected as the experimental substrate, and nickel-based alloy as cladding powder.The experiment results show that, after comparing the variations of the cladding layer under different parameters, the optimized process parameters can be used to repair the damaged surface of glass mould..(2)The effect of lap rate on macroscopic appearance and cladding performance of single-layer multi-channel and multi-layer multi-channel was studied in this paper.During the laser cladding process, three conditions of the cladding channel were analyzed when the lap rate was divided into over large, moderate and over small. The results show that if matching the parameters, such as laser power, powder feed rate and scanning speed, the proper lap rate (about 33%) will achieve better cladding and multi-channel fused overlap.(3)The cladding layer, the microstructure and the hardness distribution of its cross section were studied through metallographic microscope and hardness tester.The types and causes of defects in the cladding layer were analyzed, and the solutions of cracks and stomata due to different reasons are proposed.Based on the above research, this paper applies the optimized cladding parameters to repair the surface of the mould, which shows the preliminary repair effect.
