Construction of new intelligent micelles is a hot field in self-assembly chemistry by the amphiphilic molecules with specific functions and properties. The Light-response wormlike micelles is a solution system, which is generally constructed by surfactants and photo-responsive compounds through the molecular interactions, and the rheological properties of micellar solution can be conveniently controlled by light. In recent years, it has shown great potential applications in the photochemistry and microfluids. In this paper, we intend to build a series of stable micelle solutions by the single-chain and double-chain surfactant-photoresponsive additives, utilizing the trans to cis conversion of photoresponsive molecules to construct photoresponsive intelligent micelles. The formation process of wormlike micelles, the transformation of micellar structure and photo-switchable processes of intelligent micelle systems will be determined by utilizing rheological measurement, and kinetic parameters for the processes will be obtained.Structure-activity relation between the aggregate structures and the important factors, including molecular structures of surfactants and photoresponsive additives, are to be systemically investigated by combining the kinetic properties with the electron microscopic and UV-Vis spectroscopy technologies. The formation mechanism of the intelligent micelles, the rule of micellar structure transformation induced by photo, and the effects of additives on the structure formation will be explored. The paper consists following parts:I. The rheological behavior of single-chain quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactant and azobenzene aqueous solution by different photo. The rheological properties of single quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactant cetylt rimethyl ammoniumsalicylicacid(C16TASal) and cetyltrimethyl ammoniumbromide(CTAB) and azobenzene(AZB) aqueous solutions in different concentration and light have been discussed, respectively. The viscoelasticity of C16 TASal and AZB aqueous mixed solution under repeated ultraviolet-visible light is invertible. For certain concentration of the viscoelastic C16 TASal solution, the viscosity reduces after ultravioletirradiation and restores to the original state after a certain time of visible light irradiation. But for the CTAB and AZB mixed solution, the viscoelasticity is noninvertible under repeated ultraviolet-visible light. The viscosity of solution reduces after ultraviolet irradiation and has no change after visible light irradiation. The micellar microstructure of surfactant and azobenzene mixed solution has been confirmed by freeze etching electron microscope scanning(FF-TEM).II. The viscoelastic behavior of mixed aqueous solution of single-chain quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactant and 3.4- dimethoxy cinnamic acid in different photo. The rheological properties of including alkanes oxygen hydroxypropyl groups of quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactants 3-hexadecyloxy- 2- hydroxypropyl-trimethyl ammonium bromide(R16HTAB) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB)and 3.4- dimethoxy cinnamic acid mixed system have been studied under different light and light time.Rheological experimental data shows R16 HTAB contributes to the formation of worm-like micelles. Because R16 HTAB is inserted a silane oxygen hydroxypropyl group between the head of the CTAB and alkyl chain. The head of the molecular structure of quaternary ammonium salt base bends to form the micelle and the repulsion of head base is lower. R16 HTAB concentrations is less than CTAB when the same viscosity concentration solution is formed. These solution can cause the change of structure under ultraviolet irradiation.Worm-like micelles become short micelles and show sensitive optical response characteristics.III. The rheological behavior research of double-chain quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactants and light-sensitive material mixed aqueous in different light.Viscoelastic behavior of the double-chain quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactants 2-hydroxypropyl-1,3-2(dodecyl dimethyl) ammonium chloride and 2-hydroxypropyl-1,3-2(tetradecyl dimethyl) ammonium chloride and photosensitive material mixed aqueous solution have been explored by the change of concentration and different illumination. The results show that ultraviolet light has little impact on the viscosity of systems.
