In this paper, based on the domestic and foreign research of reef carbonate reservoir of Changxing to Feixianguan formation in Puguang gas field, through multidisciplinary research methods, combined with modern research means, base on the outcrop and drilling logging data, with a combination of the qualitative and quantitative parameters, form a set of evaluation methods about the characterization. Advances obtained are as below:1. Changxing formation in this area could be divided into five subfacies:base reef, core reef, top reef, belongs to the platform edge reef. Mainly occur in the upper part. Feixianguan formation is mainly beach facies reservoir, which is mainly distributed in the Fei one and Fei two sections.2. Based on the regional geological features, combined with the geological historical events, this essay studies the development and evolution of sedimentary facies and sedimentary microfacies in the area. The reservoir would perform very differently due to the facies.3. Combine reservoir petrology and geochemistry, recognizing the dolomitization is the key diagenesis in the reservoir performance.4. The lithology, physical property and pore structure of the reservoir are determined by the data of physical properties, mercury injection and cast sheet. Generally speaking, the reservoir in Puguang area is good as a whole, residual oolitic dolomite, fine crystalline dolomite, reef dolomite is the best reservoir and its distribution is related to sedimentary environment. Longitudinally, the middle and lower sub segment of Fei one and Fei two is the best, the physical properties of the reservoir located in Takabe is better than those around the structure5. Form a set of reservoir characterization methods:based on lithologic, controlled by sedimentary and diagenesis, physical characteristic is as the key, considering the heterogeneity of the reservoir, the ultimate goal is to classify and evaluate the reservoir.6. Based on previous research results, the classification and evaluation standard of carbonate reef facies reservoir in the area is established, and discusses the reservoir distribution and changing trend in the plane of the layered section of different levels.
