Since the reform and opening up, the scale of China's import and export trade expands gradually. Coming to be an important impetus for our economy, and has made a great contribution to the high speed development of economy in China. But meanwhile, the environmental quality in China, with the development of our national economy and the rapid expansion of the foreign trade, deteriorates rapidly. The emissions of main pollutions, including industrial wastewater, industrial waste gas and industrial solid waste, continue to rise. This phenomenon has aroused the attention of many scholars. As a result lots of research about the relationship between foreign trade and the environmental pollution spring up.The dissertation has set up the general equilibrium model of trade and the environment base on the literature review of existing domestic and foreign related research. The model makes the pollution emissions as a function of the economic scale, capital stock per capita, per capita income, the trade friction, world prices pollution goods and national types. Meanwhile, we decompose the environmental effects of trade into scale, composition and technique effect. Then we analyze the present situation of foreign trade and environmental pollution in China. Base on the VAR model, using our 35-year period 1980-2014 time series data, four environmental pollution index, this paper dose empirical research. The results of the study are as follows:the expansion of our country's economy and the capital labor ratio rises exacerbated China's environmental quality, but the contribution of variance decomposition on pollution emissions is little; on the contrary, the per capita income present a strong negative effect on our country environmental pollution, which effectively alleviate the deteriorating trend; and the impact of foreign trade on environmental pollution in our country changes over pollution index. Specifically, the impact of trade openness to industrial wastewater and solid waste has strong negative effect, and for industrial waste gas and sulfur dioxide has a strong positive effect. At last, based on the above analysis, this paper proposes some policy recommen-dations to improve China's environmental quality.:(1) we adjust the foreign trade structure and transform the model of trade growth; (2) wo have to improve the level of per capita income and strengthen the national consciousness of environmental protection; (3) the government must establish a sound system of environmental protection:(4) the firm must research an develop new energy:(5) we must take an active part in international cooperation and absorb foreign environmental protection experience and advanced technology.
