The development of transportation goes hand in hand with national socio-economic development. With the development of social economy, people growing demand for transport, and road transportation network as an important part of transportation, is playing a more and more important role in the development of national economy. The adaptability of highway transportation and economic development of Inner Mongolia becomes a strategic problem. Then analyzed the social and economic development level and the transportation development situation of Inner Mongolia; Finally according to the requirement of economic development of transportation industry in Inner Mongolia and total scale level and service ability, economic adaptability of transportation development in Inner Mongolia system research, adaptability evaluation conclusion and suggestions are also given.The article mainly concluded that(1) the total scale, road network density generally lower than the national average, road network composition most indicators and basic quite, the national average level of highway pavement overall level is low.(2) the accessibility is not clear on the whole.(3) the service ability. Highway maintenance quality is higher than the national average, road network congestion level is low, road network level is higher than the national average level.Analysis the adaptability of economic and transportation development in Inner Mongolia, we can clear the future development direction,development goals and construction emphasis, of the transportation system, then promote the transportation system and the coordinated development of social economy, make it better adapt to build a well-off society in an all-round way the demand for transportation.
