Iron and steel industry is the national pillar industry, it plays an important role in the national economy operation and infrastructure construction. However, with the increase of steel enterprises, and the economic situation toward smooth and steady, the demand for steel is gradually decreasing, which resulting in a serious surplus of steel production, and a number of small and medium steel producers facing bankruptcy. Under this developing situation, iron and steel companies want a further develop, it should reform itself into an enterprises with green and safe production.As steel enterprises production process is complex, and facilities and equipment is heavy, therefore, the type of accident is complex, the result of personal injury, economic loss is much more serious than other industry. In this paper, we take the production process work of iron and steel manufacturing enterprises as study object, by analyzing the risk type and the factors of this risks, with a view to provide targeted and effective help for the risk management of iron and steel enterprise production process work.First, through the analysis of historical data, which including the time, type, causes and results of an historical accident, and combining with a large number of research result, summing up the six categories of major risk in China's steel production operations, namely the explosion, gas leak/poisoning /suffocation, employees high falling, drowning, melted iron (steel) burn/spill, environmental risks (collapses, crushing, mechanical damage, etc.), and based on information diffusion theory, analyzing occurrence probability and loss of these types of risk events. Combined with risk matrix to evaluate risk grade of various types of risk.At the same time, studying from the corporate environment, production technology, facilities and equipment as well as organizational management four aspects, analyzing the factors that may cause occurrence of these six categories of risk events, through expert scoring to collect data, and estimating the weight ratio of all kinds of factors by entropy weight method.Through research, this paper draws the conclusion that the risk level of gas leak/poisoning/suffocation is the highest in six categories of risk events, followed by explosion, burns and damage to the environment, and then it is high falling and drowning. From the weight ratio of factors, it can obtain the result that the weight of facilities is the highest, and organization management and production technology is the second, and the business environment is the last.And finally, the paper put forward the related countermeasure to the management of iron and steel enterprise production operation risk based on the research fruit of risk identification and assessment.
