With the development of China's economy growing, the household saving in China showed a high level, and came to a rising trend in recent years. Saving rate is affected by many factors, such as economic development, income level, interest rate and so on. among which population age structure is worth studying. Meanwhile, because of the Chinese dual economic structure, the impact of population age structure of household savings may have different effects between urban and rural areas. This paper analyzing the population age structure and urban-rural household saving in China, found that the labor resources in urban areas are rich, and the juvenile population proportion and the elder population proportion are relatively low, While the rural areas are just the opposite. Under such background, the population structure effected on the saving through the labor supply, social spending and consumer savings ratio changes, Cause the household saving level has significant urban-rural differences. Base on this, We use the panel data of 31 provinces in 2003-2013, building the population age structure panel data econometric model affect the urban-rural household saving rate. The author finds that:In urban areas, the juvenile population proportion has a significant positive impact on the savings rate, the elder population proportion has a significant negative impact on the savings rate. While the rural areas are just the opposite. Savings effect of population age structure has significant diversity effect; This effect are also reflected in the three major regions, most notably in the Midwest. Therefore, the government departments should accelerate the improvement of the rural social security system, reduce uncertainty. Steadily increasing the proportion of people's livelihood fiscal expenditure, appropriate implement policy tilt to rural areas, promote urban and rural equalization. Relax population mobility restrictions, promote the process of urbanization, narrowing the income gap between urban and rural areas.
