Grain is essential to the survival of human beings, and it plays an important role in economic and social development of any country. Xinjiang is a major agricultural area in China with strong comprehensive capability of grain production and large land. Therefore, Xinjiang has a great potential in grain production and it can make a significant contribution to China's grain security. But the related research showed that Xinjiang's grain output was mainly rely on a large amount of material input in recent years. The increase of grain output mainly depends on two aspects:one is the increase of production factor inputs, and the other is the improvement of production efficiency. Resource scarcity and economic scale effect of diminishing returns has decided the sustainable development of grain production in Xinjiang cannot rely on the unlimited expansion of factor inputs. Improve the efficiency of grain production in Xinjiang is the key. This is important for the realization of Xinjiang agricultural industrial structure adjustment, Xinjiang agricultural sustainable development and implementation of the national food security. The paper first analyzed the current development of Xinjiang grain production, then studied the efficiency of grain production in Xinjiang by using the relevant data. The paper did the research mainly from three parts, namely, the cost income, single factor productivity, technical efficiency and total factor productivity. Some relevant input and output indicators were selected to analyze the technical efficiency and total factor productivity, then SuperSBM-Malmquist model was used to calculate Xinjiang grain production efficiency. Finally, this paper analyze the influence factors of grain production efficiency in Xinjiang by putting forward the basic assumption and establishing related model. The results showed that: the technical efficiency of grain production in Xinjiang mainly relied on pure technical efficiency. Technical efficiency of wheat production in Xinjiang mainly relied on scale efficiency. Technical efficiency of corn production in Xinjiang mainly relied on pure technical efficiency. While the total factor production efficiency of Xinjiang food, wheat and corn all relied on technological progress. Grain sown area had a significant positive impact on grain production efficiency. Grain production labor had a negative impact on grain production efficiency. The total power of agricultural machinery and the amount of chemical fertilizer both had a significant negative impact on grain production efficiency.According to the research conclusion, the paper finally put forward some advice on how to improve the efficiency of grain production in Xinjiang.
