With the rapid development of remote sensing technology,the demand of ship target tracking in remote sensing images has become increasingly prominent.In this paper,around the application of ship target tracking,water-land segmentation,ship target tracking algorithm and its implementation based on So PC(System on Programmable Chip)are studied:(1)In view of the water-land segmentation application for large remote sensing image,this paper proposes a fast watershed segmentation method by combining the statistical characteristics analysis of region and Otsu.For this method introduces statistical characteristics analysis of region,the defect that traditional Otsu algorithm is sensitive to the change of gray level is overcome.Besides,the computational complexity of this method is greatly reduced by using a single dimension feature to characterize the regional attribute.Research results show that this method can meet the requirements of accuracy and real-time in the subsequent application of ship target tracking.(2)Taking the requirements of practical application into account,a ship target tracking method for optical remote sensing image is put forward in this paper.The design idea of this method can be summarized as following: firstly,candidate targets are detected by differential operation between the current frame image and dynamic background;then the false targets are excluded according to the land-water segmentation result and attributes of candidate targets;finally,track correlation of targets in before and after frame is accomplished by characteristic matching.Where,the characteristic matching and confidence judgment method proposed in this paper can solve the problem of fractus disturbance effectively.Besides,a prediction mechanism is introduced to realize re-tracking of lost targets.Experimental results show that the proposed method is robust to video tremor,short time cloud cover and track crossing.(3)In the basis of algorithm research,this paper designs an embedded SoPC platform for ship target tracking in optical remote sensing images with dual core ARM processor and programmable logic.Concrete design tasks include: overall architecture design of SoPC,hardware/software partitioning according to the functional characteristics of every module in algorithm,the software development,the hardware development and the design of interaction mechanism for software and hardware.System testing results show that the designed ship target tracking system in this paper can meet the requirements of robustness and real-time in practical application of ship target tracking for remote sensing image.
