In the past few years,there has been a rapid growth in cloud computing,especially IaaS,which has been adopted by more and more enterprises to provide the IT infrastructure.It's a trend to use hybrid clouds that incorporate components of private and public clouds in order to achieve lower cost,higher availability and better security.Enterprises could get substantial overall benefits from cloud computing including high elasticity,efficiency,flexibility,etc.In the meantime,they have to face a set of challenges such as the increment in the number of cloud assets,the diversification of management interfaces in hybrid clouds and the complexity of operations and maintenance.To solve the above problems,the rule engine for hybrid cloud platform is designed and implemented in this thesis.By separating the business rules from the implementation,the rule engine can reduce the cost of IT system maintenance and improve the flexibility.The rule engine uses a simple text configuration to define events and actions,which allows users to filter and execute a set of actions on the cloud resources from multiple IaaS cloud providers.The rule engine provides users with features such as batch processing and automatic management,enabling IT managers to design different scheduling policies for managing IT infrastructure from hybrid cloud platform flexibly.In this thesis,the research background of this subject is introduced firstly.A thorough research on the mainstream IaaS cloud service platform and related cloud management tools are investigated afterwards.Next,the functional and non-functional requirements of the rule engine for hybrid cloud platform are proposed.According to the requirements analysis,the design for this platform is presented and then the detailed implementation of each module is given.In the end,the effectiveness of the system is verified through a set of tests.
