China is one of the most severely victimized countries from geological disasters in the world.Natural disasters,especially landslides and debris flows tremendously threaten the lives and properties of residents.Implementing monitoring and warning system of slope based on OTDR and resolving the problems existing in the traditional slope monitoring methods are of great significance for reducing the losses caused by geological disasters and ensuring the sustainable development of society and economy.Compared with traditional slope monitoring methods,OTDR-based slope monitoring and warning system is characterized by high automation,high intelligence,fast response,easy deployment and low overall cost.These features make the system ideal for large-scale deployment,especially in remote areas where the geographical environment is complex and human are at risk to stay for a long time.The main contents and achievements of this paper are as follows:(1)According to the background of the subject,accumulated relevant theories and determine the overall design of the system.Relevant theories include the basic principles of optical fibers,and several common principles of distributed optical fiber sensing technology,in particular,Brillouin Optical Time Domain Reflectometry(BOTDR)and Optical Time Domain Reflectometry(OTDR).Analyzed the characteristics of these two kinds of optical fiber sensing technology.Proposed the overall design scheme of slope monitoring and warning system based on OTDR.(2)Designed and implemented Remote Test Unit(RTU).In accordance with the design and combined with the specific needs of the use case,determined the designed scheme of system hardware part of the remote test unit.Introduced the selection of various hardware modules and functional design,particularly the workflow and communication protocols of main control module,OTDR module and optical switch module.(3)Designed and implemented the server and client.Described the software design scheme of monitoring alarm system based on the improved three-layer C/S architecture.Explicitly introduced the business processing logic of the server,the table structure of the database and the interface and functions of the client.(4)Tested the entire system.Simulated and deployed the set of monitoring and warning system in the laboratory environment,tested various functions of the system and verified the efficiency and accuracy of system monitoring alarm.
