Location Based Service has played a significant role for humanity,such as in the field of security,military and entertainment,In the system of Location Based Service,pedestrian positioning is considered to be a fundamental technology.One of challenges about pedestrian positioning is that the activity of the pedestrian is various.In particular,when the context changes,the pedestrian will adjust his/her activity to the environment.Based on the related literature,the research on multi-activity pedestrian positioning has not been studied fully.This paper aims at a pedestrian positioning system with multiple activities.With the development of mobile devices,the performance and popularity of the mobile devices has been improved,which makes the mobile device,especially the smartphone,a well suitable tool for pedestrian localization.Based on the built-in sensors of the smartphone,a pedestrian positioning system is developed without extra infrastructure.In the proposed system,the pedestrian's activity is recognized,followed by the process of multi-activity pedestrian dead reckoning,for the purpose of obtaining three dimensional position.The representative features of the system are multi-activity,high accuracy and low-cost,and so on.As the experiments illustrated,the proposed system is able to track the location both indoors and outdoors,and the position error of the end point is less than 4.5%.
