With the rapid development of mobile Internet and IOT,IPv4 address depletion has become reality and the next generation Internet based on IPv6 has made significant progress in such aspects as network deployment and application construction.However,network vulnerabilities and network attacks targeted IPv6 next generation Internet keep appearing,which bring severe challenges to IPv6 development and application in network management and network security.IP address scanning is the first main stage in the lifecycles of network attack,which aims to identify potential attack target and acts as one of the main methods of information gathering for network intruders.IP address scanning is widely used in host auto discovery,penetration test,vulnerability scan and worm detection.Compared to 32-bit IPv4 address length,IPv6 address length increases to 128 bit,which has a massive address space,and its address representation and address configuration are quite different form IPv4.Thus,traditional network address scanning techniques cannot directly applies to IPv6 network.Therefore,it is of significance to study IPv6-suitable address scanning techniques for network management and network security of IPv6-based next generation Internet.This study conducted a depth analysis and research of IPv6 address scanning.First,we provide a survey of the state of art of IPv6 address and IPv6 address scanning techniques domestic and abroad,which summarize the inherent pattern and characteristics of IPv6 address,discuss the feasibility of IPv6 address scanning,and categorize and compare existing IPv6 scanning methods.Furthermore,we proposed an IPv6 address scanning method based on association rules,including adjacent association rules and non-adjacent association rules.In the experiment,we get association rules based on realistic data and simulate address scanning using these association rules.The result indicates that our proposed method can effectively reduce IPv6 scanning address space and achieve the aim of IPv6 address scanning.Last,we take IP address management system as an example scenario and discuss the practical application of IPv6 address scanning technique for host auto discovery,which demonstrates the effectiveness of IPv6 address scanning techniques for host auto discovery.
