The overlapped coverage of the Heterogeneous Networks(HetNets)provides a new approach for data transmission.In HetNets,multi-homed terminals are potentially capable to acquire network resource at anytime and anywhere utilizing one or more access technologies.Therefore,multipath transmission mechanism has become a developing direction of the network data transmission in the future.When the quality of the transmission paths is similar,the multipath transmission mechanism can clearly improve the network throughput by aggregating the bandwidths of different links.However,when the transmission paths are heterogeneous and asymmetric,the performance of multipath transmission mechanism may be greatly reduced due to the significant differences in path quality.Consequently,it is arduous to reduce the transmission delay caused by path congestion through establishing multiple parallel communication links between the transceiver and the sender.With the constant innovation of technology,intelligent terminals can organize mobile opportunistic networks on the move,and then communicate with each other through the equipment to exchange information.The opportunistic communication is allowed to offload traffic from the core network to the edge network through multiple heterogeneous network technologies.Thus the opportunistic communication between terminals has become a powerful solution.This paper investigates a heterogeneous networks traffic offloading mechanism based on multipath smart collaboration.The mechanism is capable of offloading service resources from the remote server to the edge of the access network based on heterogeneous network multi-path transmission.By introducing collaborative offloading technology,the mechanism makes full use of multiple heterogeneous transport networks to shorten the distance between users and resources.The main achievements and results are listed as follows.(1)The communication flow and each functional module are designed through analyzing the system requirements of traffic offloading.Besides,it is thoroughly described how to realize each module.(2)The mechanism adopts the collaborative offloading source selection strategy.The sources can exploit direct communication between devices to distribute data,which can effectively improve transmission efficiency and shorten transmission time-delay.(3)The simulation verification of collaboration offloading system is accomplished.Through simulating functional modules,the effectiveness and feasibility of smart collaboration offloading mechanism are proved.The performance of collaboration offloading mechanism is compared with the typical offloading mechanism and RSRP/RSRQ(Reference Signal Receiving Power/Reference Signal Receiving Quality)offloading mechanism.Qualitative analysis includes application scenario,cost consumption,offloading method and motivation factors.The offloading performance of the three mechanisms is evaluated in terms of the number of offloading sources and offloading efficiency.The transmission performance is assessed at the average download latency and transmission energy consumption of the base station.The simulation results show that smart collaboration offloading mechanism in the heterogeneous network can effectively reduce energy consumption.Besides,the data download delay is further reduced by making full use of network resource,which directly improves user experience.The proposed heterogeneous networks traffic offloading mechanism based on multi-path smart collaboration has practical signification for the utilization the multi-host terminals.
