With the rapid development of tele-communication system,the global demand for mobile data is increasing quickly.5G network is expected to be officially released in 2021.The overall trend of the 5G network is to increase the coverage and speed up data transmission.The traditional macro cells will move to more and more small cells like street poles,etc.,so the arrival of 5G will drive the explosive growth of small cells.As the important component of the tele-communication system,5G will also bring higher requirement for cable assemblies,especially for higher frequency band,miniaturization and low intermodulation.How to develop a premium cable assembly to meet the requirement of 5G is a critical threshold in front of the cable assembly providers.This thesis will focus on the design and process improvement of the RF cable assemblies to meet the requirements of 5G small cell application.We'll start from the key technology study on the cable assemblies used in small cell,do further research on VSWR and intermodulation.By analyzing the problems existing in current RF coaxial cables and connectors,we'll raise the improvement solution for the cable production line and develop a new connector structure and optimize the cable assembly process.Through the concept of design,sample making,testing and verification,etc.,we've developed a new cable assembly with expanded frequency band,low VSWR& PIM to meet the requirement of 5G small cell application.In summary,the methodology is to capture the problems from the current design and manufacturing process,do multi-physical field characteristics analysis to meet the electrical performance requirement.The goal is to develop a miniature cable assembly of expanded frequency band and excellent PIM performance to satisfy the technical requirements of 5G small cell applications through structural optimization to manufacturing process improvement.Thus,it can be well prepared for 5G small cell deployment.
