Research On Miniaturized Planar Slot Antennas Based On Triangle SIW Cavity

As an important electronic component for signal transmission and reception,antennas,just the same as the tendency of wireless electronic systems,are boomingly developing towards miniaturization,high performance and high integration density.Miniaturized slot linearly polarized antennas based on the triangle substrate integrated waveguide(SIW)and half mode substrate integrated waveguide(HMSIW)cavity working in different resonance modes are proposed.The SIW cross-slots cavity backed circularly polarized antenna is designed on the basis of cavity backed slot antenna.The slightly difference between the two slot lengths cause mode split within resonance cavity,and the linearly polarized wave radiated from the slots are equal magnitude and 90 deg phase difference by adjusting the length difference,then circularly polarized radiation is achieved in the far field.These SIW cavity slot antennas retain good radiation performance of conventional cavity backed antennas.Besides,the planar antennas possess the attractive characteristics including light weight,low-profile,simple structure,easy to be fabricated with low cost and convenient integration with planar circuit.Furthermore,compared with rectangle or circular SIW cavity,the triangle SIW cavity geometry presented here has the advantages of convenient layout,compact structure and higher radiation efficiency with the same area.As demonstrations of array application,a single fed 1*4 compact array antenna is designed using the proposed triangle SIW cavity backed slot element antenna by employing uniform feed network consisting of three 3-way equal power dividers.Measurement results indicate that the array antenna achieves good radiation performance and low cross polarization level.
