With the increasing number of domestic cars, traffic management has brought new challenges. The traditional vehicle information management model has been unable to meet the needs of the times, so the birth of intelligent transportation system and its application in real life. Therefore, intelligent transportation system is very common in today's practical applications, such as: parking, high-speed toll stations, traffic junctions,etc.. The intelligent transportation system involves license plate license, identification,recording, tracking and so on, so the license plate recognition technology plays an important role in the intelligent transportation system. In addition,today's society of intelligent mobile phone penetration rate is very high, and intelligent mobile phone operating system of the Android market share is very high, so the research of license plate recognition system based on Android is very significant practical significance. A basic license plate recognition system is divided into the following four parts:Image preprocessing part: Gauss filter, gray stretch, image gray and two value theory are introduced.License plate location: four common positioning algorithms are introduced. In this paper, the method of edge based localization is introduced, and the Matlab experiment is simulated and the results are compared and analyzed. Finally focus on the license plate location HIS color model and Canny algorithm based on the two then the localization method based on HIS color model, and respectively, the Canny operator to do the corresponding processing, realize the positioning of the license plate. The results of Matlab simulation show that the experimental results can be expected.Character segmentation: two simple segmentation methods are introduced. The character segmentation algorithm based on character contour is studied, and the Matlab simulation is carried out. The simulation results show that the algorithm has low time complexity and high accuracy.Character recognition; because we are based on the Android license plate recognition system software. Therefore, we focus on the use of the identification algorithm is time efficiency rather than anti-jamming capability and accuracy. In this part, we first introduce four different recognition methods, and focus on the recognition algorithm based on template matching and structural primitives.Finally, this implements a simple license plate recognition system based on Android.
