In recent years,volumetric mesh model has been widely used in many related industries.Finite element mesh model editing plays a key role in the CAD / CAE integration.In the finite element mesh editing,semantic-based mesh edit has become very necessary to reduce the repetition between design and simulation,and shorten the product design period.The shape features of the model are very important semantic information.However,most of the existing mesh deformation algorithms are applied to the surface mesh models,which present animated characters,although these methods can achieve good results in the modification of many models,but many industrial models have semantic sharp features,due to this reason,it is very necessary to study the model editing method for the industrial model,especially for the mechanical mesh model.This paper proposed a shape feature-based,interactive editing method for CAD models which are represented by the volumetric mesh,this method is effective and fast.This method allows the user to select a set of surface regions which need to maintain their features,the model edit can be implemented by translation,rotation and other operations at these regions.The method can preserve original features precisely of the model in the editing process,and it is fast enough,in full compliance with the requirements of the finite element analysis fields.This paper also proposed an optimization method for optimizing tetrahedral mesh.In the method,low quality tetrahedrons are identified firstly,based on the local editing area.Then calculate the target edge length of the tetrahedrons,and topological operations such as split,collapse and flip will be applied to the tetrahedrons.At last,smooth the mesh.This method use different approach to optimize the internal and surface tetrahedrons.During the study,we proposed an optimization method that can preserve the shape feature for the tetrahedrons in the surface.This method is applied to the mesh model with several iterations.The experiments show that this method can locally optimize the tetrahedral mesh model effectively and fast,and the mesh model is compliance with the requirements of finite element analysis.
