Since 21 st century, urbanization has been accelerating and technology has changed our lives dramatically.Nowadays, people live with their mobile phones almost in any situation. As an important part of the society, students have attracted increasing attention.Currently, there are a great number of internet companies promoting their products into universities, for example,Jingdong,Tencent,Alibaba,Baidu and so on.Therefore,to understand the activities of students is necessary for the infrastructure planning and the transportation organization at universities. However, traditional data collection methods, such as questionnaire, are not only time-,energy-and resource-consuming as well as low-efficiency,but also cannot collect a large volume of data.Attributed to the rapid development of the mobile communication technology,an Android positioning app was devised to collect data from the activity routines on campus of 20 volunteer students from Shenzhen University who live in different dormitories.By the means of the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method of trajectory segmentation,GPS data of both dynamic and static state were collected and analyzed.Specifically,as for the former, the walking distance distribution, the way of transportation and the flow distribution of those students were analyzed;as for the latter, the space-time characteristics and hotspots of students' activities and the situation of taking express delivery were analyzed.Based on the data collected from the 20 students of Shenzhen University, the results can be shown as follows: Firstly, students can be divided into two groups,“short distance” and “long distance” respectively;walking is the main travel mode, and cycling and motorcycling are the complementary.According to the traffic analysis on the campus trunk road, the distribution of students' dormitories on campus influences the people flow, which is due to the distance between the trunk road and the student dormitories. The daily average travel times of students is between 1.5 to 4,and that of most students is 2.5 to 3.Secondly,the activities of students can be divided into three categories: attending class and learning, entertainment and sporting, and resting in the dormitory.Particularly, entertainment and sporting are divided into three categories: sporting, entertainment outside of campus, and claiming parcels. From the campus hotspots map of the students, their activity routines from 6 to 24 o'clock are collected, which indicate that the three different categories of activities mentioned above change with time, and students often go to the courier service center at 17 o'clock, and they normally shop online at least once two weeks. In a nutshell, collecting GPS data from students of Shenzhen University can provide useful and powerful basic for other universities around the country in site selection of infrastructure, campus transport organization and logistics planning, including the overall design between student dormitories and campus trunk road, the design of school buses around the campus, and the site selection of the courier service center. At the same time, those data can be useful for merchants to know the activities of their customers and for parents to know the activities of their children.
