In 1996,the broadcasting of "Tell It Like It is " marked the beginning of talk show in China.With the boom of the domestic cultural undertakings and the continuous progress of media technology,the development of Chinese talk show programs is changing rapidly during around 20 years.TV,Internet and other media have become increasingly important platforms for such programs,which feature in various forms,and rich content and has become the major type of video shows,regarded as the most popular shows.In talk show programs,the host plays an important role,the connotation of which is constantly enriched,the status of which continuously improve,and personality characteristics of which become more prominent,drawing the community's attention.However,some problems about hosts are exposed in the programs of talk show,further affecting the development of such program and it is worthwhile to consider.Based on the role theory as the theoretical framework and by combining other theories on sociology and communication,the author conducted a comprehensive analysis of the role of hosts in China's TV talk show,redefining talk show programs,combing the domestic development process of talk show,putting forward the expectations of the role of hosts in domestic talk show,exploring the hosts role playing process in this case study of “A Date With Luyu”,“Tiger Talk”,“Xiaosong Pedia”,and “Jin Xing Show”,finding out the imbalance phenomenon in the role of hosts and providing advice on their future role construction.According to the analysis,the study can not only provide new research ideas from the perspective of sociology but be conducive to improve the hosts' comprehensive quality,promoting the long-term development of talk show programs.
