The simulation of tornado has been one of the hot topic of computer graphics.Due to the dramatic increase of the use of tornado simulation in film,game and the prediction of natural disasters,the research of tornado simulation has attracted much attention of experts who devoted to computer graphics.Especially for the vortex control of tornado and its interactivity remain huge challenging.First of all,the particle system model was used to present more details for the tornado's boundary.The vortex field was introduced to make the particle system produce a rotating effect.The rotating particles make up a dynamic tornado model.Secondly,to simulate the tornado's damage to the scene,a layer of transparent rigid body was added in the outermost layer of the tornado.For the difficulties of large amount of calculation of large number of particles interact with the scene,we simplify the particles into a layer of transparent high-speed rotating rigid body.With the support of AABB collision detection algorithm,we just need 6 times calculation for every collision detection.So the computational efficiency of tornado interaction and real-time was improved greatly.Next,in order to enhance interaction of the virtual tornado and real scenes,we adopted somatosensory interaction device Kinect which was based on AR technology.The Skeleton Tracking system of Kinect was used to catch the body skeleton point data,and then update tornado's parameters in real time.The depth camera of Kinect used to collect real scene,and then realize the fusion interaction effect of virtual tornado and real scene.Then,we optimized the ray casting algorithm.After the ray casting algorithm generating texture data,the image effects like glow and sun shafts were used to process these texture data.At the same time,GPU parallel computing was introduced to improve the real-time performance,thus simulating the tornado of realistic,rosy and real-time.Finally,The Unity 3D platform was used to build the real-time tornado simulation system.Multigroup experiments about tornado and its interactivity were designed to verify the different forms of tornado and its interactivity.The results showed that the tornado simulation and interactive algorithm we proposed can well meet the real-time andauthenticity demand of the simulation.
