With the continuous progress of technology and society,the long distance transmission,large capacity,ultra high speed are the trend of optical fiber communication system,optical fiber device which is basic in the optical fiber communication system,and also have development toward to small volume,easy integration and low power consumption.Graphene has a unique zero band structure,adjustable Fermi level characteristics,excellent optical and electrical properties and ultra high carrier mobility,is widely used in material selection of photoelectric device,has aroused great concern in the past few years.In this paper,the optical properties of graphene based microfiber and D shape fiber are analyzed,the main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly,based on reading a lot of relevant literature at home and abroad,the paper summarizes the current graphene application in optical fiber communication and optical fiber sensing,and the present research status of graphene fiber devices were introduced and analyzed in detail.Secondly,starting from the unique band structure of graphene,the linear absorption,saturable absorption and electro-optical modulation characteristics of graphene are analyzed,the preparation methods of graphene and simulation software used in this paper are briefly introduced.Thirdly,the paper using COMSOL which is based on the finite element analysis the transmission light field performance of graphene based microfiber structure,the birefringent properties covering different angles are also study,electro-optical modulator model is proposed,and its working principle and the performance is discussed.Then,the paper analysis of the light field transmission characteristics of graphene coated D-shaped fiber,and made a comparison;because the limit loss in different wavelength and different graphene layers are different,can analyze the graphene coated D-shaped photonic crystal fiber based polarizer model performance and optimize the model structure,to achieve the best effect of polarization.Finally,the paper research the characteristic of graphene covered D-shaped opticalfiber sensor based on surface plasmon resonance effect,the change of the sensitivity of the sensor with the number of graphene layers is analyzed when the chemical potential of graphene is not taken into account;at the same time,the variation of the reflectivity with the change of graphene chemical potential,and the refractive index of the external medium and the metal layer are analyzed,the filtering characteristics of the structure are also analyzed.
