The explosive growth in mobile traffic brings a new challenge to the mobile operators with the rapid development of mobile internet technology. It is beneficial to improve the quality of service in existing network and guarantee the healthy sustainable development of the mobile internet while the network managers assess the mobile internet traffic characteristics accurately.Compared with the traditional Internet traffic, the traffic in mobile Internet is more complicated: the IP headers and TCP headers have been compressed by Van Jacobson protocol and encapsulated into GRE tunnel. In order to master the characteristics of mobile Internet traffic, measurement personnel have to pick up user data from GRE tunnel and decompress the IP headers and TCP headers. Unfortunately,the traditional processing method might loss packets under gigabit wire speed network environment. The measurement result is inaccurate due to packet loss. In order to solve the problem, the thesis designed and implemented a traffic measurement system on mobile internet with PF_RING socket and deep packet inspection in this thesis.After analyzing the reason of packet loss with PF_PACKET, the thesis adopted the PF_RING socket to capture the traffic. In order to match the capture traffic rate, the thesis also designed and implemented efficient data structures and algorithms for resolving GRE protocol, decompressing Van Jacobson protocol and extracting features of TCP streams. As an instrument for measurement personnel to assess mobile traffic's features, the traffic measurement system could handle 100 measurement task at the same time, and present measurement results by charts.
