Optical waveguide phased array has a widely application prospect in the fields of laser scanning imaging and laser radar,which has advantages of fast scanning speed,low control voltage,no inertia and free addressing.However,the structure dimensions,material refractive index and electrical characteristics of the actual optical waveguide array chip are different with the ideal case,the phase distribution of the beam is different from the theoretical results,which has a great influence on the phase control of the beam scanning.Therefore,optimization of scanning beam characteristics from optical waveguide phased array is of great practical significance.Based on the scanning principle of optical waveguide phased array,the method of grating lobe suppression was analyzed.The influence of the transverse dimension error,material refractive index error and non-uniform electrical properties from Optical waveguide array and the incident light Gauss distribution are simulated by Rsoft software.Wherein the transverse dimension error,material refractive index error and non-uniform electrical properties from Optical waveguide array were the main impact,but the incidence light Gauss distribution has little effect.The analysis of the advantages and disadvantages for various optimization methods shows that a closed loop control scheme of scanning beam optimization from optical waveguide phased array is designed by using the mode search method.The scanning beam optimization system of optical waveguide phased array is constructed with Lab VIEW programming platform.The experimental results show that this system can compensate the influence of non-ideal factors on the scanning system,and the side lobe of scanning beam can been compressed effectively,the ratio of the main and side lobe from scanning beam can been increased up to17 d B from 8d B.
