Presently, the orbital angular momentum as the basic quantity of the electromagnetic field has aroused great interest. The OAM-based optical vorticity communication has been widely applied in the optical domain. In the low frequency radio band, improving the channel capacity of wireless communication by OAM-multiplexing and the electromagnetic vortex imaging based on OAM-carrying radio waves is another hot research topic in recent years. There are various types of antenna to generate OAM bearing radio waves. The performance of OAM antenna play a key role in the OAM communication system. Therefore the task of this paper is the analysis and design of the OAM antenna in the radio frequency band. The main research work is as follows:Firstly, overview of the development of Orbital angular momentum of electromagnetic field is presented. Several methods of generating vortex electromagnetic wave and related antenna structure is also summarized and analyzed. The material mentioned above provides a theoretical basis and support for future research work.Secondly, several feasible types of antenna corresponding to the proposed traveling wave loop antenna modal, including the comparison of some common antenna structure, related theoretical analysis, as well as the research of the feeding technology. Finally, based on the research mentioned above, two novel OAM antenna with different feed methods are designed and analyzed. The simulation analysis is carried out. The simulation results shows that the proposed antenna can radiate OAM beams with specific mode number and good matching is achieved. Both of the proposed antennas work at the Ultra High Frequency (UHF ) and Super High Frequency ( SHF) radio frequency band. These design has potential value in the future electromagnetic vortex wireless communication.
