CATR (Compact Antenna Test Range) is an advanced measurement technology, which converts the spherical wave radiated by the feed into a pseudo-plane wave through reflecting or transmitting unit, especially suitable for antennas working in high frequency, and CATR could be established in a smaller space overcoming the far-field distance requirement of high frequency antennas with large-aperture. With the widespread application of millimeter wave and sub millimeter wave antenna, the demand for CATR technology is also increasing. The reflecting-type CATR has developed rapidly because of its wide bandwidth and mature machining technology, and can meets the requirement for antennas who work in higher frequency and have larger aperture. The measurements for millimeter wave and sub millimeter wave antenna is more susceptible to environmental interference, which put forward a higher request for CATR technology. There are several antenna pattern correction techniques who have been validated and applied to the actual engineering measurement work. This paper will carry out the study about the errors during antenna testing and correction technique based on the tri-reflector CATR established by BUPT-QMUL lab, and the main research work includes:1. The errors of quiet zone and antenna pattern caused by an added interference source in tri-reflector CATR has been studied through simulation work.2. The principle of the correction technique based on multi-position measurement has been studied, and simulation results in 100GHz and 300GHz have been illustrated for verification of correction technique in tri-reflector CATR.3. A specific displacement control system has been built in the physical tri-reflector CATR, and some experimental results in 100GHz have been displayed for further validation of the antenna pattern correction technique.
