As the demand for mobile data traffic is growing, the existing network architecture can not satisfy the users' demand. That makes the heterogeneous network the evolution direction of the Long Term Evoluation-Advanced system. The deployment of the heterogeneous network become a hot topic. Our research mainly focus on the deployment problem of relay network, small cell and unlicensed band. The contents are summarized as follows:To address the deployment problem of relay networks, this thesis firstly investigates energy efficient relay deployment of two-way relay system with non-ideal power amplifier. The closed-form solution of optimal energy efficient relay deployment for different transmission schemes is theoretically derived. At the same time the impact of non-ideal power amplifier on the relay deployment is analysed by performance evaluation.Secondly, this thesis derives the optimal and sub-optimal energy efficient solution of single small cell deployment under non-uniform traffic model in hotspot areas.Based on the derived theoretical analysis, the multi small cell deployment method based on the K-means clustering algorithm is proposed.Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm can significantly improve the system energy efficiency compared with random deployment mode. Finally,in order to address the deployment problem of LTE network in unlicensed band, the joint detection scheme of base station and user equipment is put forward with the constaint of the listen-before-talk method. And the indicating signal is designed in the system broadcasting sub-frame to realize the coordination of different operators. At last, the impact of unlicensed band to the small cell deployment is analysed.
