With the explosive growth of data traffic, the development and evo-lution of mobile communication system are faced with great challenges, although the emergence of the 4th generation mobile communication system(4G)has partially alleviated the urgent need of data traffic, whereas people put forth higher requirements for the future mobile com-munication system, considering the great advances in mobile Internet. At the same time when 4G is brought into commercial deployment, the 5th generation mobile communication system(5G)is put forward on agenda. In June 2015,International Telecommunications Union(ITU)officially released 5G white paper. The white paper comprehends requirements of"over a thousand times capacity upgrade" and "near zero delay" quality of service, compared to 4G.In order to meet the requirements, radio re-source management technologies are increasingly valued by academia and industry. This thesis takes as its background the standardization evolution progress of 4G,aiming at the research and development of 5G,based on small cell enhancement scenario, from the view of theory innovation and simulation evaluation, investigates a variety of radio resource manage-ment technologies respectively, including interference assessment,inter-ference coordination, power control, load balance, cell discovery, cell measurement, energy efficiency management and scheduling. The main innovations and major work of the thesis are as follows:Study of the interference assessment and interference coordination technology:Interference assessment section focuses on dense deployment scenario, evaluates interference level and signal to interference plus noise ratio(SINR),and analyzes resource and strength of the interference.In-terference coordination part focuses on cell on/off mechanism, evaluates user perceived throughput(UPT)gain and resource utilization(RU),and analyzes the effect of interference coordination technology to improve system performance. The results are output to the international standard organization 3rd Generation Partnership Project(3GPP)in the form of standard proposals.Study of the power control and load balance technologies:Power control section introduces a non-cooperative game theory based uplink power control scheme and applies that to uplink/downlink split users. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the scheme.Load balance part takes different reference signal received quality(RSRQ)as cell se-lection criterion, evaluates SINR,UPT and user association ratio, and an-alyzes the load shifting effect of the criterion.Study of the cell discovery and measurement technologies:Cell dis-covery section investigates the side conditions of cell-specific reference signal(CRS)and channel state indication reference signal(CSI-RS)and under the condition of cell on/off.Cell measurement part focuses on dis-covery reference signal(DRS),evaluates reference signal measurement accuracy of DRS-based reference signal received power(RSRP)and RSRQ,and analyzes the standard backward compatibility of DRS in terms of bandwidth. The results are output to the international standard organization 3GPP in the form of standard proposals.Study of the energy efficiency management and scheduling methods:Energy efficiency management section finds energy efficiency gain win-dow under the condition of cell on/off,analyzes the impact of packet ar-rival rate and transition time to the window, with the help of numerical simulation illustrates the existence and uniqueness of its extreme points.Scheduling part proposes an optimal energy efficiency based scheduling scheme through data fitting. The scheme can adjust the transmission time of data packet to optimize energy efficiency of the cell.
