With the popularity of the internet, people's requirements for high quality network are increasing. The traditional network has been unable to satisfy people's need for network intelligence. SDN, which separates forwarding plane and control plane of network, enhances the authority of controlling the network and provides the flexible deployment of services and the remote control of network elements. However, SDN network commercial using rate is low, which mostly are still in the laboratory research. SDN commercial need more flexible control function, so this paper based on the SDN multi-controller cooperative research is very necessary.In this paper, the architecture of SDN cooperative system is designed based on OpenDaylight (REST API), and the whole topology of SDN cooperative system is realized. Then the SDN application layer of traffic engineering to be studied to optimize energy-saving as the goal, propose energy-saving algorithm. The main achievements are as follows:(1)The SDN cooperative system framework is designed in this paper,realizing the global topology display of dual controllers based on OpenDaylight, and the Mininet custom network topology is used to analog the underlying topological structure for connecting the dual controllers. Using JavaScript to call controller NBIs(REST API),and it returns JSON data to describe the underlying topology. In this process it may include the removing duplicates, layout and so on.(2)By using the special advantage of SDN network with global topology, a new traffic optimization algorithm based on SDN application layer is proposed. The Matlab platform is used to simulate the algorithm based on the idea of energy saving. In the algorithm,the branches and nodes with less traffic flow are closed. From the result, we can see that this algorithm can find the nodes and links with no service and few services well, also can conveniently close the nodes and disconnect links to achieve the goal of network traffic optimization.
