Investigation Of Facial Perceived Attractiveness,healthiness And Whiteness

It has been a long time since human cognized and researched colour.From people in China consider that all colours can be mixed by black,white,yellow,red and blue five colours about 7th Century BC to colour science has been vigorous development nowadays,this common vocabulary “colour” has significantly not only been a noun that closely related to our daily life but also been a key word that countless colour science and related field researchers constantly striving for.Recent years,with social platform and network technology maturing,makes the world getting smaller and achieves information sharing.Meanwhile,it causes people's attention about their appearance especially about their looks.This paper is the study of the relationship between perceived facial information and facial colour characteristics based on colour science theory through psychophysical experiment.Colour appearances of 60 Chinese and 60 Caucasian subjects are reproduced on display using colour reproduction technology.During the process of study perceived attractiveness and healthiness,using categorical judgment technique,perceived healthiness and attractiveness are assessed in psychophysical experiment by 40 Chinese participants.For each subject facial image,facial colour characteristics including facial colour,facial contrast and facial heterogeneity are calculated.During the process of study perceived whiteness,through magnitude estimation technique,perceived whiteness is estimated by 20 Chinese participants.By the way,facial colour for each subject facial image is calculated.Results showed that facial attractiveness is highly corrected to facial healthiness and lightness of facial colour affects both of them in the study of perceived attractiveness and healthiness.In the aspect of facial contrast,impact of hue is the most obvious.Meanwhile,facial heterogeneity affects both facial attractiveness and healthiness significantly.Through relationships above,build models that predict human perception score according to facial colour characteristics.In the study of perceived whiteness,relationships between whiteness and facial colour are investigated.Existing whiteness models including CIE Whiteness index and Individual Typology Angle are evaluated in term of whiteness prediction for facial whiteness.A new model is developed to give a better performance in facial whiteness prediction.
