With the rapid development of wireless communication technology, telecommunication has been gradually integrated into all aspects of daily life. It has become one of the most widely used techniques in 21st century. MIMO technology is definitely the trend of telecommunication technology in the future, which largely improves the spectrum efficiency as well as the capacity and quality of the communication channel of communication. The performance of multi-antenna MIMO largely determines the merits of the entire communication system. Still further, the performance of the low coupling between the multi-antenna units determines the performance of multi-antenna system. Nowadays the development of wireless communication puts forward higher requirements, such as antenna miniaturization, which inevitably makes the distance between the antennas smaller and smaller, and therefore the coupling effects between the antennas also grow up. How to get a high isolation in such a limited space is the most urgent problem of multi-antenna units. In order to solve the problem this article improves some of the inadequacies of the current technology of decoupling on the basis of the existing multi-antenna coupling between the antenna cells and proposes decoupling methods of the SIW structure combined with microwave theory.Firstly, the development process of wireless communication technology is introduced,and the current status of the development of MIMO communication system is summarized.The focus is on the shortcomings of recent researches in MIMO antenna technology decoupling methods, which happens to be the next research direction.Secondly, as for a single method utilized in the previous decoupling design between the MIMO antenna coupling units in the introduction part, a dual-port MIMO antenna consists of narrow slot antennas is proposed in this article. Using a parasitic structure and a double-gap structure dealing with de-coupling, the isolation between antenna elements of the proposed MIMO antenna improves greatly with the parameter S11 reaching to -18dB.Again,for the lack of existing researches on decoupling between MIMO antenna elements within the UWB band, in this paper two dual-port MIMO UWB antenna are designed (a PIFA dual-port MIMO antenna and a monopole dual-port MIMO antenna). The decoupling in the range of ultra-wideband is achieved using current neutralization with isolation reaching to-20dB below.Finally, combined with some basic understanding of the principles of SIW and the coupling mechanism of the multi-antenna, a attempt of introducing SIW structure to the decoupling between the antenna elements has been made. A dual-port MIMO antenna based on planar rectangular microstrip antenna has been designed and manufactured. It is easier to understand the impacts of coupling effect by changing the key parameters of the SIW structure. And the final validation test shows that the SIW structure has good decoupling effect with the isolation between antenna elements reaching to -25dB or less.
