Mathematical morphology has a rigorous theoretical basis and a straightforward thinking.It has a good application in all aspects of image processing.The choice and design of structural elements have a great influence on the final results in mathematical morphology.For the same image,using different structural elements will lead to different results.However,the traditional mathematical morphology of fixed structural elements is not suitable for all areas of the image.Therefore,it is significant to improve the design and selection of structural elements.This paper presents a new adaptive gray-scale morphological model space,and applies it to image denoising and edge extraction.In order to solve the problem of fixed structural elements in the traditional gray morphology,this paper combines graph theory with adaptive morphology and proposes the concept of vector similarity weigh.The structure graph is defined and then an adaptive gray morphological operator is proposed.The new operator not only considers the local features of the image pixels,but also considers the global features of the continuous pixels.The experimental results show that the new operator can adaptively select the threshold and structural elements according to the characteristics of the image.On this basis,the new operator is applied to the image denoising and edge extraction.The experimental results show that the new operator is better than the traditional morphological operator and can preserve more image details.The new model is extended to color space,and a new adaptive color morphological model is proposed in this paper.According to the characteristics of the color image,the concept of vector similarity weight is proposed,and the adaptive structure graph is defined.On this basis,a kind of adaptive color morphological operators in graph space is proposed and the completeness of the operator is proved.The new operator not only considers the local features of the image pixels,but also considers the global features of the continuous pixels.The experimental results show that the new operator can not only preserve the complete color image information,but also adaptively select the threshold and the structural elements according to the characteristics of the image.On this basis,the new morphological model is applied to the image edge extraction and a new operator for color image edge detection is designed.The experimental results show that the operator can save the complete color image information and complete the image processing at the same time.The validity and superiority of this operator are proved.
