As the key technology of the LTE communication system,MIMO(Multiple-input multiple-output) can improved the channel capacity by increasing the number of the antenna elements, which make the performance of the antenna a further step. However, more antennas embedded in the tiny space of the wireless terminal will cause high interference between elements which results in deterioration of the pattern, the lower radiation efficiency and so on. SRR(Split Ring Resonator) as a MTM(Metamaterial) has the ability to improve the isolation through properly placing.This thesis has researched on improvement of the isolation between antenna elements using SRR, the so-called "Metamaterial". By appropriate placing, the SRR has made a good performance as a decoupling structure when apply in the 2\8\10MIMO antenna systems for mobile handset applications. Finally, we experimentally used periodic SRRs as a "parclose" on the 2-MIMO microstrip antenna, the results also show the improvement of the isolation.This thesis consists of the following parts: Firstly, recent researches about the SRR around world are introduced. Secondly, the introduction of the SRR's history,features and the decoupling theory of SRR are presented. Thirdly, we use SRRs in the scene of 2\8\10MIMO antenna system for isolation improvement. Finally, we proposed periodic SRRs as a "parclsoe" to make the isolation improved.
