With the surface mount technology (SMT) gradually developed into a mainstream technology of modern electronics manufacturing industry, as a key equipment of SMT production line, chip Mounter also developed rapidly. The continuous development of assembly technology puts forward new requirements to the assembly process and chip mounter equipment. It requires motion control system of chip Mounter can carry out high speed data transmission and can postion in real time, which results in its motion control structure is more complicated. Especially multi Mounter, its structure is more complex and has more drive motors. Traditional cards and motion control of the parallel line structure is difficult to meet the placement machine motion control requirements. Although field bus technology and industrial Ethernet technology developed rapidly and made network has become the trend in motion control, because the number and type are more, which need to develop a unified network interface to meet network connections.In view of the above requirements, this paper will study the placement machine network multi-axis motion control system based on EtherCAT technology.The motion structure of 4-chip placement machine and its requirements for motion control system are analyzed. The structure of the motion control system is planned. The motion control of the 12 axes is divided into three categories.According to the characteristics of EtherCAT network structure, the master node and slave node of networked motion control are designed. Aiming at the characteristics of the different actuators of the placement machine, the motor selection is carried out, and the interface of the slave node is designed according to the requirements of the motor control signal.The motion control strategy of the placement machine is studied, and the motion control trajectory requirements of the placement machine are analyzed. In view of the characteristics of high speed and high precision point control, the motion trajectory control and the acceleration / deceleration control strategy of the motor research. And then the relevant software planning and design features, the completion of the network communication message planning, data structure,workflow and other design.The EtherCAT-based placement machine motion control system is tested and verified. The experiment proves that the communication between the master and slave stations of the motion control system is good. The motion modules of the motion control system can run normally according to the control instructions and meet the application requirements.
