Research Of Gender Recognition Based On Face Image

Face is one of the most important biological characteristics of human beings.Face image contains a large amount of information,such as gender,age,race,identity,etc.Face gender recognition is to use computer based on the input of face image to judge its gender attributes.Gender recognition based on face image has a great application prospect in human interaction,system monitoring,pattern recognition,etc.This paper summarizes the common face image databases for gender recognition,image preprocessing methods and effects,commonly used sex feature extraction methods,sex feature representation methods,and the gender recognition algorithms.These algorithms have their own advantages and disadvantages in recognition rate,computing time,extensibility and data storage.This article implements the face gender recognition system design and C++ programming on Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 platform based on OpenCV.The preparation including establishing face database,image preprocessing,face detection and location.The functions of eigenvector extraction,gender identification have been finished.In the system,Haar-like characteristics based Haar classifier is used for face detection.Fisherface algorithm is adopted for gender recognition.This paper has implemented the function of gender recognition system above,satisfies the general gender recognition requirements.
