With the deployment of large-scale, dense WLAN, the interference between adjacent APs has become more and more severe. Therefore, how to realize flexible network management and reduce the interference has become challenges to the traditional WLAN. Based on the concept that control plane is decoupled from the data plane of software defined network (SDN) technology and focusing on the interference of the co-channel environment, we have studied the SDN based co-channel network architecture, the stochastic geometry analysis and the network management to reduce the interference and enhance the network performance. As the traditional WLAN can not provide flexible management, we designed the SDN based co-channel network architecture to realize efficient management for the whole network through running network management schemes on the controller. Then, we propose a stochastic geometry analysis model, use the stochastic geometry model to model the distribution of the APs and stations in the WLAN. We give the description of the relationship between the carrier sense threshold and the network performance. Simulation results show the carrier sense threshold can affect the coverage probability and the network throughput. Finally, we propose a dynamic carrier sense threshold and rate control network management scheme to improve the spectrum spatial reuse and reduce the co-channel interference. How the management scheme can affect the network performance is analyzed. Considering the real-time environment and channel conditions, we will dynamically tune the carrier sense threshold and data transmission rate to reduce network interference and improve the network performance.
