Various kinds of three-dimensional (3D) display methods have been developed, attracting great deals of attention in recent years, as the technologies bring images demonstration from 2D plane of a display to 3D space. However, holography is considered to be the most attractive technology. It can supply high-quality images and accurate depth cues viewed by human eyes without any special observation devices. The development of the computer and display equipment technology helps the holography from conventional optical holography to the computer-generated hologram(CGH). CGH has advantages of wide range,low request of environment, easy to copy compared with conventional optical holography. This paper focuses on the calculation methods of holographic 3 D technology.Firstly, based on the basic theory of CGH, the methods to generate fourier hologram and fresnel hologram based on the diffraction theory calculation method are studied. In addition, the principle, advantages and disadvantages of three typical methods to generate CGH for 3D object are described and analyzed. These methods are chromatography, point source method based on depth map, and a multiple-viewpoint holography method. On this basis, the multiple-viewpoint holography of 3D objects is focused on. With the help of 3Dmax, Matlab, the generation of the three methods and the numerical reconstruction of the first two methods are achieved. The results are analyzed.Finally, studied the modulation and the application in the field of hologram of phase-type SLM and a 4k liquid crystal display(LCD). The experimental verification of chromatography and point source method based on depth map based on phase-type SLM are also given. Meanwhile,the experimental verification of the multiple-viewpoint holography of 3D objects based on LCD is also given.
