In recent years, because our scientific research institution of the research group exhibition hall often be visited by visitors, we need to arrange commentary staff to introduce our research results for the visitors. For relieving commentate pressure of the staff and attracting attention of the visitors more, this paper designs a kind of commentary robot for leading visitors to visit the hall. The robot has some function. For example, it can confirm the necessary content by scanning 2-dimensional bar code below the exhibits. And it can commentate in three different languages, Chinese, English and Japanese. Besides, it can talk with different voices, plays as male, female, children, similar to the voice of TOM cat, too.The specific work finished in the paper as follows:1) The overall design of the commentary robot. Considering the basic functional requirements of the commentary robot for the exhibition hall: walking, avoiding obstacle simply, taking photos, identifying 2-dimensional bar code and commentating in voice;Building hardware development platform of the commentary robot by selecting open source hardware appropriately for extendibility and the second research conveniently.2) The implementation of autonomous walking robot and obstacle avoidance simply.Considering the balance and stability of the robot walking, walking of the robot by choosing the wheel type; Based on the development environment (Linux) of the main control unit of the robot, defining the pins connect the main control unit with the drive board of motor and drive GPIO ports by using relevant functions of WiringPi ? the open library, and control the robot walking by writing program; Implement obstacle avoidance simply of the robot by using sensor that can measure the distance constantly.3) The recognition of commentary contents based on technology of 2-dimensional bar. One of the key that the robot commentate the exhibits for the visitors is commentate appropriate content in appropriate place. Contrast depend on relevant sensors with the characters of image processing comprehensively in the paper, proposing the way of the robot recognize 2-dimensional bar code implement the robot commentate relevant exhibits for the visitors in appropriate place.4) The functional implementation of audio commentary. Contrasting the characters of the four kinds of speech engine (Nuance, Microsoft, IFLYTEK, Ekho—the open source speech engine) comprehensively, considering the speed of the speech synthesis, the languages that the speech engine support, the effect of the speech synthesis, the implementation of text to speech by using Microsoft speech synthesis engine; The paper proposed use relevant API in the SoundTouch—open source sound library set relevant parameter (such as pitch, etc.) implement speech conversion for the commentary of the robot with different voices for the visitors, means the audio information of Microsoft speech synthesis convert kinds of different voices, such as original audio information(female) convert the voice of robot, male, children, similar to TOM cat.
