3D modeling of plants has always been a difficult task in the field of computer graphics and computer vision.However,the modeling of flowers is more complicated and difficult because of its diversity of the geometric structure and the species.With the development of the computer information technology and the hardware technology and the virtual reality technology,3D modeling has been more and more used for the reconstruction of flowers.Simultaneously,the flower modeling plays a very important role in the reconstruction of the indoor scene and outdoor scene and the realistic games.Furthermore,it has been widely used in computer games,scene designing and so on.The reconstruction based on a single image is the research hotspot in the field of 3D reconstruction because of its simple input,fast speed and high efficiency.In this paper,the modeling of single image and flower are combined to reconstruction by making full use of the ecology structural and symmetry of flower,a small amount of user interactions additional is added to realize the 3D reconstruction from a single image.The main work and achievements in this article are as follows:1)Based on the common symmetry properties of natural flowers,an interactive approach is proposed in this paper for modeling 3d flower from a single floral image.Firstly,the user interactively sketches two edge lines of each flower petal on the input single image.A cone can then be constructed by least squares fitting on the top and bottom sample points of the edge lines.The symmetry plane of each petal can thus be determined by the fitted cone.Further,the depth information of the couple edge lines on each petal also can be calculated with respect to the inherent symmetry properties of different kinds of flowers and their symmetry planes.Using the 3d constructive curves,each petal model can be generated as a triangular mesh and the whole 3d flower model can be obtained.Finally,according to the texture information of the input image,the realistic flower model can be created by synthesizing the flower texture,and it can obtain the 3d realistic flower model.2)Based on proposed approach of 3D flower modeling from a single image,this paper also presents an image editing algorithm using conical proxies.Firstly,an interactive algorithm is applied to segment input image into flower foreground and background.After foreground extraction and image inpainting,a background image for flower model editing is generated.Subsequently,the flower area is analyzed based on a single input image,then flower is modeled by interactively fitting a cone.Finally,the flower model can be edited by implementing rotation,scaling and translation operations.The edited flower models are projected onto 2D images,generating an enriched image library that meets users' need.From a single image of flower,this paper presents an algorithm of 3D flower modeling based on symmetry and a method of floral image editing based on cone proxies.Experimental results demonstrate that proposed 3D flower modeling algorithm can quickly and feasibly reconstruct flower from a single input image.This algorithm greatly reduces user interaction and significantly speeds up reconstruction.The results also illustrate the effectiveness of proposed floral image editing method.Using algorithm of cone proxies based modeling,image segmentation and inpainting,this method can generate a batch of images that satisfy users' demands.
