Research Of Generative Design On 2D Style Image Pattern

Patterns are everywhere in people's lives.With the progress of science and technology and the development of computer graphics,there are some revolutions on image pattern generation,from the traditional manual design method to the computer-aided creation mode.At present,the method of using computer to create patterns is divided into three categories: computer aided design,automatic generation based on mathematical model and generative design based on knowledge.Compared with the traditional manual drawing,these three methods,whether in the production efficiency,or the composition of the pattern of reuse has a different degree of improvement.The shape grammar was proposed by Stiny and Gips in 1980.The shape grammar consists of a series of shapes and rules,with the marked shape as the basic element.When designers pre-set an initial shape and grammar rules,all possible design alternatives will be included in the implementation of the shape grammar.Combining this method with the generative design can greatly expand the possibility of design,generate a richer pattern.Generative design is based on pattern generation rules,and constantly generate new patterns.Focus on the logic of the pattern generation process,the limited design rules and design constraints through the divergence calculation to produce a large number of patterns.Derived results have unpredictable characteristics,and gradually become a systematic design method.It was introduced to the architectural design,art design and other different areas gradually.In this paper,I focus on the generation of 2D pattern,and combine the shape grammar and the generative algorithm to analyze the style of pattern generation,then two novel image generation algorithms are proposed.Finally,through Grasshopper of Rhinoceros,it can achieve the 2D pattern of specific style.The shape grammar determines the rules and styles of the patterns,and then generates new patterns through the generative algorithm.The main work of this paper includes:(1)The analysis of the geometric patterns with Islamic style by giving the basic primitives of the Islamic pattern.According to them,the shape grammar mechanism is used to analyze and explain the style,and the pattern generation rules are created.(2)Aiming at the rule of generating rules based on shape grammar,two kinds of pattern gradient algorithms are proposed in this paper.In the 2D pattern changes at the same time to maintain the pattern style,it can result in stylized 2D pattern changes.(3)Based on the generative design mechanism and Islamic style pattern set(Les éléments de l'art arabe),two kinds of pattern gradient algorithms proposed in this paper are combined with the color strategy,so that the generated patterns show different visual effects,Style 2D pattern.
