The remote sensing image is a three-dimensional model that reduces the ground view objects according to a certain proportion,including both the macroscopic,continuous and highly generalized ground features of the geological structure,and containing a large amount of information of underground hidden geological structure.Remote sensing images display mainly the last results of tectonic movements in the geological history an area,and it certainly records identification information on tectonic deformation in the periods.The large joint interpretated on the remote sensing image is different from that on the field outcrops,and the large-scale joints on the remote sensing images are produced in the dominant position of joints on the field outcrop,which are the natural preference of the joints.Generally the mechanical characteristics and the relationship of the major conjugate shear joints or shear fracture are obviously manifested in the remote sensing image,and the stress field can be retrieved based on this.Based on the remote sensing(RS)and geographic information system(GIS)platform,this paper analyzes the satellite remote sensing images by using visual interpretation and computer image processing based on the theory of structural geology and the traditional geological research methods and data interpretation.The characteristics of geometric,kinematic and kinetic characteristics of these tectonic phenomena are deduced from the characteristics of the time and space distribution of the structural trace(folds,faults,joints,etc.)from the surface image.At the same time,we can form a clear concept of space and time of the structure of the entire study area.In the study area,the transverse tensional joint is very developed and the direction is changing.The interpretation of the remote sensing image and the field observation show that the transverse joint group is closely related to the folds,mainly in the following three groups: the transverse tensional jointing group associated with north-west fold,the transverse tensional jointing group associated with the near-east fold,and the transverse tensional jointing group associated with the near-northeast fold.
