With the development of personalized products,the cycle of product updating and modification is accelerated,and the special equipment is dif-ficult to meet the requirements of small-scale and multi variety production.Therefore,it is necessary to build a flexible and intelligent welding robot workstation.A loading bracket is a large structural workpiece which is composed of a plurality of components.In this paper,manual welding of the components has many disadvantages such as poor welding quality,low production efficiency and high labor intensity.Combined with welding process and requirements of the production program,as well as the characteristics of flexible,automation and intelligent welding robot,a welding robot workstation based on PLC control was put forward.To increase increase the flexibility of the whole and keep welding seams in the best position,a welding positioner was used.The welding positioner is an important auxiliary equipment of robot workstation and is one of the effective methods to improve the productivity and welding quality.The dimension error of workpieces,assemblage error and thermal deformation during welding tasks will cause the actual welding position to deviate from the original teaching track,which can lead to welding defects.To ensure welding quality,the welding robot is required to be able to accurately locate and detect the deviation of the welding seam in real time,and correct trajectory in time,so a seam tracking technology is very important for robot welding.The hardware and software of the control system of welding robot workstation was designed based on Siemens S7-1200 PLC,and KUKA robot.A Siemens touch screen was implemented for controlling of the robot action and displaying the status,alarming information of all the equipment.Through selecting and calling the robot teaching program,the automatic welding of the frame body can be achieved.The results show that the technical indexes of welding robot workstation are normal,welding robot workstation meets the design requirements and can realize high quality,high efficiency and high precision welding.
